If you are craving dim sum, you gotta go to Far East to satisfy your cravings. I've been pretty disappointed with the options I have in VA, but we finally got a sizable group to drive up to Rockville for dim sum this past Saturday morning. We arrived around 11 AM (when it opened) and there were already lots of people here. Make sure your entire party is here, otherwise they won't seat you yet. And definitely try to arrive before 11:30 AM to avoid waiting because it gets pretty busy. Far East has the traditional dim sum carts where the servers will go around each table. Sadly, there are no lazy Susans here so we had to reach across the table if we wanted something on the other side. Overall, the food was more than satisfactory and the service was good. We paid about $26.60 per person after tax and tip and we were quite full. Some of my personal favorites: shrimp crepe roll, chicken feet, bean curd roll, pork & century egg congee, shrimp dumpling, etc. I kind of forgot a lot of stuff we got because I was too busy eating to take pictures. Things I didn't love: sticky rice (not much flavor and too much rice), steamed roasted pork bun (too much bread) -- overall, didn't really like the sweet options as much. We all enjoyed the food and it was a good time. Next time, I got to remember to order the sesame balls because those are usually one of my favorites.

My friends and I went to Far East for Dimsum. I was happily stuffed and satisfied with all the variety of options they offered. You can't go wrong ordering any of their dishes, but I especially love their sesame balls, buns, and sticky rice!

If some dim sum is your thing, go to Far East on the weekends. Tasty servings by friendly, attentive staff. The updated dining room is spacious and clean. There may be a small wait but the payoff is delicious. Small downside is getting into the parking lot of busy Parklawn Drive. Cards zip over the hill coming west and you have to commit to turning into a narrow entry way.

A group of us got takeout and shared a few dishes to try different items. Since we did takeout there was a door specifically for carry out and another door for dining in. I did not go inside to pick up the meal but the outside did look clean and there is a parking lot with plenty of space. Overall everything was really good! For appetizers, we had the pan fried dumplings and the crab wontons. The dumplings were juicy and really good. The dipping sauce was not to salty which is a win in my book. The crab wontons were made with real crab meat, however, it didn't have a lot of flavor but I would recommend trying them. For the entrees, we got the general tso chicken which was good, not too spicy; the beef chow foon, which I had for the first time and loved it; and the Mongolian beef which was delicious though there was a lot of green onions but still good. I would definitely recommend eating here as the food was delicious, the portion size was plentiful, and the food was done in a timely manner.
